Manually Verify Proxy – Chrome (Windows)

Open the Chrome menu and navigate to Settings.

Scroll down and click on Show advanced settings.

Scroll down to Networks and select Change proxy settings.

On the Internet Properties window navigate to the Connections tab and click on LAN settings.

Under LAN settings, uncheck the Automatically detect settings box. Check the Use a proxy server for your LAN box and enter your proxy server IP address into the Address field and port number into the Port field into the appropriate fields. Press OK.

The first method of testing that your proxy has been set up correctly is to navigate to several Blocked and Allowed sites. Blocked sites should be getting blocked, generating a block page.

You should also see blocked sites in your Blocked Content report.

The second test is to see if your Web Filter reports show Google websites and searches. Navigate to several Google sites (Docs, YouTube, etc) and perform several searches on Google. Then, navigate to your Activity Logs and Search Queries reports and verify that you’re seeing specific Google site and search term data.
