In a recent blog post, we talked about how the Lightspeed Systems Web Filter’s URL database works, including how content is categorized. We published this because Lightspeed believes in total transparency. Transparency is also why our Web Filter’s URL database is available to the public. (This database also categorizes websites in new Relay for Chrome.) With the Dynamic Database Lookup tool, anyone can search a URL; see how it is categorized and why; and submit a website for review and recategorization if they believe it has been miscategorized.

My kids are fortunate to be part of a tech-forward district with, among other things, a 1:1 Chromebook initiative. I hear their stories of how the Chromebooks are integrated into lessons in class throughout the day. My middle schooler is even able to bring her Chromebook home at night. I know this access has given them new skills and new ways of learning and I’ve seen first-hand how it has advanced their engagement and  ability to use technology in meaningful and persuasive ways. (When we try to decide where to order take-out dinner, they often create presentations with Google Slides to persuade me to their choice ☺)

And if you’re a Web Filter customer, you need to get your complimentary upgrade! Go here to get version 3 documentation and upgrade instructions, watch the replay of our webinar, take a course, and much more.

2. Here’s the answer to your No. 1 support question.
Now that the general release is available, some customers have asked if it’s possible to continue using their old user agents. Most user agents will still work with version 3. Most user agents will still work with version 3. For Windows, you need to move from the PC User Agent to the LMA (Lightspeed Management Agent), which uses the latest security protocols. Learn more here.
